Transport instructions
From Athens International Airport El.Venizelos you may take either the suburban train (proastiakos) or the Metro to arrive Athens. Either the suburban or the metro leaves Airport every half hour. Thus every 15 minutes there is a train for Athens. Both trains leave from the same platform at the airport station and there is only one direction (Athens).
1) Suburban: First train leaves at 5:39 hr and the last at 23:39 hr every half hour. You get off at Neratziotissa station where there is a connection with the Electric train. When you get off at the platform of suburban at Neratziotissa station you have to take the stairs or the lift to go up one level at the platform of Electric Train. There are two directions of the electric train a) to Kifissia b) to Piraeus. You take the train to Piraeus and get off at Victoria Square station. You buy only one ticket from the station at the airport which is valid for metro or electric train as well. The cost is € 6. You may also check if you can buy a group ticket.
2) Metro: First train leaves at 5:30 hr and the last at 22:52 hr every half hour. You get off at Monastiraki station. At that station there is a connection with the electric train. When you get off at the metro platform at Monastiraki station you follow the signs “Kifissia” and take the electric train towards Kifissia. You get off at Victoria Square station. Again you buy only one ticket from the Airport station which is valid for all other transport means. The cost is € 8.
When you arrive at Victoria Square station you exit the station following the signs “Septemvriou Ave”. You arrive at Septemvriou Avenue and you take “Heiden” street which is opposite to Victoria Square and vertical to Septemvriou Ave. Heiden street is also next to a big building of Telecom. You walk up Heiden street and you cross 28 Octovriou Ave (this avenue is also called Patission Avenue). Having crossed 28 Octovriou Ave continue walking Heiden street which ends up at Mavrommateon street . Behind Mavrommateon street is a park which is called Pedion Areos.
In the beginning of Mavrommateon street and in front of the park there is a bus station. You will take the bus with the sign GRAMMATIKO (ΓΡΑΜΜΑΤΙΚΟ) οr NEA MAKRI (NEA MAKΡH). In the brackets is the name of destination in greek in case you need to show it to someone. You take one of the buses mentioned above and you have to get off at the stop in front of the church of Agia Marina before Nea Makri. Nea Makri is the municipality where is located our camp site. The church of Agia Marine is white with blue dome. Is very easy to recognize it as is the only church of these colors in the area.
When you get on the bus you have to warn the bus driver that you want to get off at Agia Marina church before Nea Makri so to make a stop and advise you beforehand.
You have to buy another ticket for the bus either at the bus station or from the bus driver. You have to ask before getting on the bus.
The time you need to arrive from airport at Victoria Square is about 40 minutes. The bus takes about 1 hour to arrive at Agia Marina church.
Another way is with the Shuttle Bus from the Airport to RAFINA:
